Icarus is a beautiful, very large toy/softy with love hearts around the sides of his shell. He can be used as a pillow, or even a bed for a cat (or small dog), or simply an amazing addition to your home decor.
 
Size:
 
Icarus is HUGE!
The shell reaches at approximately 18” across 
The length from the start of the head, to the back of the shell is 26” 
The length between the front fins, from tip to tip is 30” 
The height of the turtle, from the bottom of the shell to the top is 7”
 
Difficulty: Intermediate
 
This pattern includes the following techniques:
 
-Single crochet
-Single crochet decreasing
-Tapestry crochet in BACK LOOPS ONLY - I implore you to find some tutorials online and practice before starting this pattern.
-Slip stitch
-Crocheting in rounds and rows
 
Supplies:
 
5mm (H) crochet hook
Worsted weight (4) yarn in at least 4 different colours: White for the eyes, Black for the eyes, Green for the fins and head, a colour for she shell, and a colour for the hearts.
Polyfil Stuffing
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Sewing pins (optional, but recommended)
 
[The yarn used for the shell in the example photos is Caron Big Cakes. It provided enough yarn to make the entire shell and shell base.]
