Desert Island Crochet Pattern

You will need:


  • A 4mm (G) crochet hook

  • Worsted weight (4) yarn in Blue, Green, Yellow and Brown

  • Polyfil fibre stuffing

Let's get crocheting!


TREE TRUNK:


Chain 2


Round 1: In second chain from hook, 4sc

Round 2: 2sc in the next stitc, 1sc in the next, 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next (6sc)

Round 3 - 6 (4 rounds): 1sc in each stitch around (6sc)

Round 7: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next, repeat two more times (9sc)

Round 8 -11 (4 rounds): 1sc in each stitch around (9sc)

Round 12: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 2 stitches, repeat two more times (12sc)

Round 13 - 17: 1sc in each stitch around (12sc). Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to the sand.


LEAVES:


(Make 3 or 4)


Chain 9.


Working BACK along the chain, sc, hdc, dc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc. Fasten, off, leaving a tail to sew to the trunk.





SAND:


Chain 2


Round 1: In the second chain from the hook, make 6sc

Round 2: 2sc in each stitch (12sc)

Round 3: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next. Repeat 5 times (18sc)

Round 4: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 2 stitches. Repeat 5 times (24sc)

Round 5: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 3 stitches. Repeat 5 times (30sc)

Round 6: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 4 stitches. Repeat 5 times (36sc)

Round 7: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 5 stitches. Repeat 5 times (42sc)

Round 8: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 6 stitches. Repeat 5 times (48sc)

Round 9 - 13: 1sc in each stitch around. Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to the water.





WATER:


Chain 2


Round 1: In the second chain from the hook, make 6sc

Round 2: 2sc in each stitch (12sc)

Round 3: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next. Repeat 5 times (18sc)

Round 4: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 2 stitches. Repeat 5 times (24sc)

Round 5: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 3 stitches. Repeat 5 times (30sc)

Round 6: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 4 stitches. Repeat 5 times (36sc)

Round 7: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 5 stitches. Repeat 5 times (42sc)

Round 8: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 6 stitches. Repeat 5 times (48sc)

Round 9: 2sc in the next stitch, 1sc in the next 7 stitches. Repeat 5 times (54sc)


Now we will be making the wavy border.


Round 10: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc sc. Repeat 5 times, slipstitch to the first sc to join.


Assembly!


Assembly is relatively easy; I simply used my hook and a whip stitch to sew everything together. Start with the leaves, sewing them onto the trunk. Then, stuff a small amount of polyfil stuffing into the trunk, and sew that to the sand. Then, sew the sand to the water.


And you're done!
