Bees! Adorable, hardworking, and so, SO vital to our lives. We often forget how important the roles of Bees are. In today's blog, I've written up an amigurumi pattern. I hope you like it!
You will need:
4mm hook (G) OR a 3.25mm hook (D)
Medium weight (4) in yellow, black and white. ( I like to use Bernat Handicrafter 100% cotton for amigurumis)
Polyfil stuffing
6mm Safety eyes (optional, although it does make the bee look A LOT cuter!)
Yarn needle, to sew the wings to the body
Scissors
The bee body part of this pattern is worked in ROWS, not ROUNDS. The reason for this is so we will have distinct separate stripes of black and yellow.
Let's get crocheting!
BODY:
Row 1: with yellow yarn, chain 2, then make 6 single crochet in the second chain from hook. (6)
Row 2: Chain 1, 2sc in each stitch around, slip stitch to the first sc to join (12sc)
Row 3: Chain 1, 2sc in the first stitch, 1sc in the next, repeat around. Slip stitch to the first sc to join (18sc)
CHANGE YARN TO BLACK Row 4 & 5: Chain 1, 1sc in each stitch around, slip stitch to the first sc to join. (18sc)
Before you continue!
Now would be an ideal time to attach the safety eyes. You can use the image below for reference. I would recommend trying out a few different positions before snapping the fisher into place, as once it's on, the eyes cannot be moved/removed.
CHANGE YARN TO YELLOW
Row 6 & 7: Chain 1, 1sc in each stitch around, slip stitch to the first sc to join(18sc)
CHANGE YARNTO BLACK Row 8 & 9: Chain 1, 1sc in each stitch around, slip stitch to the first sc to join (18sc)
CHANGE YARN TO YELLOW
Row 10: sc2tog, 1sc in the next stitch, repeat around, slip stitch to the first sc to join. (12sc)
START TO STUFF YOUR BEE
Row 11: sc2tog, repeat around, slip stitch to the first stitch to join. Fasten off, weave in ends.
WINGS (make 2):
With white, chain 3.
In third chain from hook, make 6dc, then 4hdc. Slip stitch to join to the first. Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to the body of the bee.
ASSEMBLY
Using your yarn needle, sew the wings to the body, at approximately row 6. (You can use the photo near the top of this post for reference)
And there you have it! An adorable little bee for you, a gift for your friend, or to decorate your home with!
